Restart Smart is definitely the class for you if:
- you're just getting back into exercise after a long layoff
- you have aches and pains that make it difficult to move or get up and down off the floor
- you're recovering from an injury or joint replacement and have been cleared to begin exercise
- you need to work on your balance and gain more strength
- you prefer the quiet and safety of your own home to train with like-minded seniors
Each class begins with a 4-6 minute warm-up. The workout includes 8-12 exercises that will help to improve posture and balance while strengthening muscles and creating more range-of-motion. Each session finishes with a 10-minute cool down. All exercises are done either standing or sitting in a chair. Expert cueing and exercise modifications are given.
We recommend you have a sturdy chair available for each session. A set of resistance bands or tubes are great for working on strength, but not needed. If you're using the flat resistance bands like the TheraBands™, they should be at least 6 feet in length and not worn or old. Bands can be purchased on Amazon.com but need to be 6 ft long or talk with Joy, the instructor.
